Roza Shanina (1924–1945) was a Soviet Red Army sniper during World War II and one of the most famous female snipers of the conflict. She served with the 184th Rifle Division on the 3rd Belorussian Front, fighting in East Prussia. Official Soviet records credit her with 59 confirmed, though her personal diary suggests the real number may have been higher.
